We have exactly the same problem. We "solved" it by uninstalling some of the fonts that the Adobe installer had added to reduce the number of fonts.
Let me give you the details:
- Lotus Notes 8.5.3FP3 (client) / Designer 8.5.3 / Admin 8.5.3 (all English) on Windows 7 x64 (German)
- Initially, 746 fonts in %sytemroot%\fonts
- Unable to change Paragraph styles ("Ctrl-K") in Notes Client. Or, at least, the paragraph styles were not "sticky". We were able to set them, but immediate application (even without closing the client) was not successful. After closing the client, the variables NAMEDSTYLEx_FACE= in the notes.ini file were set to Default Serif. Interestingly enough, the paragraph styles kept the size, alignment, spacing, etc. information. It was just the font information that was not properly saved.
- Removed 106 Adobe fonts
- Now, defining / redefining the paragraph styles works fine.
- The next step would be to add some of the Adobe fonts back; we do need them for our work!
If anyone can confirm this or has a solution that works: I'd highly appreciate it!
